Extension Aug. 21 Webinar Looks at Grain Quality, Marketing Options during Droug
Iowa crop and livestock producers are invited to attend an Iowa State University Extension and Outreach webinar Tuesday, Aug. 21 to learn about grain quality issues and marketing options related to drought. The Benton County Extension Office will be hosting the 1-3 p.m. webinar. There is no charge to attend the webinar.
“As we near harvest, the attention has shifted to grain quality issues,” said Greg Walston, Benton County Extension Program Director.

RESURRECTING THE PAST AT CP HISTORICAL SOCIETY CEMETERY WALK AUGUST 19
Center Point Historical Society members and friends will be bringing the past back to life at the second annual Cemetery Walk, Sunday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m. Cost, $6 per person, Rain date will be August 26th.
Among the costumed portrayers of Center Point’s dear departed will be Mary and Gary Heins as Gary’s grandparents, Flossie and Oren “Chiney” Heins.
Donations needed, won't cost you a dime!
Blood supplies are low throughout the U.S. Please help by donating blood at the Vinton Red Cross Blood Drive on Wed., August 15, from 1:30-6:00 p.m. at the Vinton Skate Center. Palace at the Pool: 'Dolphin Tale'
The Vinton Community Swimming Pool will be hosting its annual Palace at the Pool movie on Friday, August 3rd. This year we will be showing the movie "Dolphin Tale." This is a family film inspired by the amazing true story of Winter, a young dolphin who loses her tail in a crab trap, and Sawyer, an 11-year old boy who befriends her and convinces a pioneering doctor to create a prosthetic attachment to save Winter's ability to swim.

THE BOOK DAYS OF AUGUST: CP FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY ANNUAL USED BOOK SALE
Volunteers will be at work by 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, setting up the Center Point Friends of the Library Annual Used Book Sale in the Library basement. Come help and get a sneak peek at the wide variety of books, tapes, DVDs, etc. available-- or if you just like messing about with books.
The sale will begin Saturday, Aug. 4, from 9 to 4, continue during Library hours through the next week and end with an all you can carry sale for a $5 admission from 10 to 2 on Saturday, Aug.
First Christian Church VBS starts Aug. 6
This year's VBS theme at First Christian Church is "Son Surf Beach Bash."
Date: August 6-10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dinner served at 530 p.m.
